First Topic (March 2007): How far can good writing take a mediocre or bad plot?

F'rinstance, I am reading Le Divorce, by Diane Johnson, a book that I didn't think I would like.

The plot is: a young woman moves from Santa Barbara, Calif. to Paris to live with her older sister, whose French husband wants a divorce. Sounds pretty sappy, but I am enjoying it.
